Music Ministry

Learning to worship God through praise and adoration is one key to a victorious Christian life. Leading others to do the same is also a great blessing. At Central Baptist Church, involvement in the Music Ministry gives you the opportunity to do both! Regardless of your age or musical background, the Music Ministry has something to offer you. Worship Choir & Praise Band

The Worship Choir & Praise Band are groups open to any member or attender, college students through adults. The Choir is open to all members and attenders on a non-auditioned basis and sings regularly in weekend services and special productions. The Worship Choir rehearses each Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. For more information, contact Worship Minister Darrell Spigner.

The Praise Band is composed of string, brass and woodwind players, and includes guitars, keyboards, a rhythm section and other instruments. The Praise Band plays regularly in weekend services and special productions. The Praise Band rehearses each Wednesday from 5:45 until 6:30 p.m. in the Worship Center and with the Worship Choir at 7:30 p.m. Childcare is provided for both rehearsals and guests are always welcome! Soloists

Soloists are chosen from members of the Worship Choir & Praise Band for ministry in Sunday morning and evening services. Soloists are expected to exhibit full devotion to Christ, a measure of performance skill, a teachable spirit and musical ability. If you have an interest in using your solo-quality talent, take the first step and join either the Worship Choir or Praise Band.

Student Music Ministry

Middle School and Senior High students are involved in choir tours traveling across the United States sharing the love and joy of Jesus through song. They sing seasonally in our Worship Services. Kids Choirs

At Central we believe that children are important and we desire to provide the best Music Education possible to teach our young worshippers to truly know what it means to worship Jesus in spirit and truth. Our Kids Choir is for ages k-5 through 6th grade. They sing seasonally in our Worship Services. Our Kids Choir meets each Sunday (during the school year) at 5:00 p.m. Enrollment is open and children are welcome to join at any time during the year. Drama Ministry

The Drama Team is open to all attenders and members who have committed to growth as a follower of Christ. The Team is used occasionally in Sunday Celebration Services to illustrate and communicate weekly message themes. Whether or not you have a formal education in theatrical arts, consider a ministry in this group. The drama team rehearses seasonally for special events scheduled throughout the year. Special events require additional rehearsal and other preparation time, beyond that required for service sketches. E-mail us for more information.

Sound & Lighting Technologies

Sound Ministry Team

The Sound Tech Team has the important job of providing quality sound reinforcement for each week’s services. We utilize technicians at each worship service. If you have experience or a willingness to learn, and a great “ear,” this might be the place for you! Contact Sound Team Leader J.C. Petty for more information.

Lighting Ministry Team

The Lighting Team handles stage lighting in the weekly services. The Team is responsible for set up, fixture placement and equipment operation. Contact Lighting Team Leader Jack Nesmith if interested in learning more about this ministry.

Central Performing Arts Center

Welcome to the Central Performing Arts Center of Central Baptist Church! What’s at the heart of our ministry? In Chronicles 15:16, David tells the Levites to prepare and appoint musicians to raise sounds of joy in celebration of worship. The ministry of the Central Performing Arts Center will fill the important role of preparing musicians to lead in worship. Our vision is to build a strong Christian-based learning environment for all ages through excellence in music instruction.

The Central Performing Arts Center is currently registering students for the 2010 Spring Semester. The semester schedule, along with CPAC tuition rates, will be provided upon request. Space permitting, students may register after the semester start date. Tuition is pro-rated for students that register after the semester begins. Lessons will be provided on a weekly basis by skilled, Christian instructors in a positive, encouraging environment. For more information, contact Darrell Spigner.
